DEVILDRIVER Parts Ways With Drummer JOHN BOECKLIN, Guitarist JEFF KENDRICK
October 28, 2014Drummer John Boecklin and guitarist Jeff Kendrick have exited DEVILDRIVER, the California-based band fronted by COAL CHAMBER singer Dez Fafara. Dez says: "Nothing dramatic [happened], [and there were] no drag-down fights; [it was] just time to move on.
He added: "As I have said previously, DEVILDRIVER is on hiatus while I rejoin COAL CHAMBER for a new record release and tour.
"DEVILDRIVER will be back, make no mistake of that, in 2016 with a new record which we are already writing, tours around the world and the massive pits you have all gotten used to.
"All in DEVILDRIVER wish John and Jeff the best."
Said Kendrick in a statement: "I want to thank our fans all over the world for allowing me to live the dream of playing guitar in DEVILDRIVER for the last 12 years. It will be some of the fondest memories I will ever have, and it has been a tremendous honor and a pleasure to play for everyone, everywhere.
"I want to make it clear that this is my decision, and I have nothing but love for all my brothers in the band. I revere my bandmates with the utmost respect and am happy for the experiences we have all shared.
"I am moving forward as an executive in my company All Axess and have several other things in the works.
"Thank you to all the fans, I love you all! This is just the beginning for me!"
Boecklin and Kendrick played their last show with DEVILDRIVER as part of this past weekend's Knotfest in Devore, California.
DEVILDRIVER's latest album, "Winter Kills", sold around 11,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 32 on The Billboard 200 chart. This figure is in line with the opening number of DEVILDRIVER's fifth CD, "Beast", which also shifted 11,000 units back in February 2011 to land at No. 42.
COAL CHAMBER recently entered Audiohammer studio in Sanford, Florida with producer Mark Lewis (DEVILDRIVER, CANNIBAL CORPSE) to begin recording its comeback album for a tentative early 2015 release via Napalm Records.
